2021: Self Awareness Appreciation Day -You are a hero-

Since 2017, We have been giving free make-overs in the month of March to embrace self-love in hopes of supporting mental health in our community. As 2020 had individuals in survival mode. We bring them renewal and refreshment to motivate their journey as COVID-19 is still in a rise.  They are all Hereos by all means. A hero from a trauma. A hero from Covid. A hero from working through the pandemic.

Painting with Black Culture

February 2021

This event was displayed with painting, games and raffles and with some share some of our favorite resources focusing on aspects of Black history and culture that aren’t centered on violence, trauma and struggle. Snacks will be provided. To end the event, we would like to ensure the children learned a fact about their hero or shero.

Adopt a Child: Girls, Boys and Christmas Toys

December 2020

Take My Hand partnered with Dream Rich, Smoke Promotion and Silk Hair Company to bless and bring a smile to children in our community. We adopted over 50 children where gifts was personally distributed to the child. 

Let's Give Thanks Part 2: Thanksgiving To Go Edition

Novemeber 2020

This event was geared towards low income families/individuals dealing with poverty,homelessness, financial struggles.  Despite COVID-19, it is still our duty to serve to our community by the grace of God. Take My Hand passed out thanksgiving meals with ensuring social distancing and sanitizing was implemented. PPE + DTE home energy consultation resources was  distributed.Thank you Da’Luxe, G.O.D.S Plan for partnering with us.

Back To School Giveaway

AUGUST 2020

This event was dedicated to students in need of school supplies.  Take my Hand  partnered up with W.I.S.E mentoring and Meals by Shay to give children of all ages school supplies. Whether its virtual or in class = SCHOOL SUPPLIES matter. 

3RD Annual Self Appreciation Awareness​

JULY 2020

Since 2017 we have been giving Free makeovers in the month of March. This event is for men and women who may be carrying scars, trauma or lack self-confidence within themselve. We want to help them embrace self-love, self-esteem, self- power. Our hope is that they leave unmasked feeling more dignified, deserving and worthy. If you know someone who needs a well-deserved make over. NOMINATE THEM! 

Quarantine Baskets

March – May 2020

Take My Hand partnered with G.O.D.S Plan to serve communities who are lacking basic necessities. We delivered to many homes during Executive order made by governor. 

New Year. New Coats 2020

JANUARY 2020

Take My Hand partner with Detroit Big Cousins to provide children in the foster care system new coats for the new year. By that giving them hope, love and understanding that someone they don’t know can bless them.

Other sponsorships in 2019:

June 2019: Styles, Cuts and Hairstyles: Take My Hand donated to nonprofit organization Seventeen Zero Eight towels and wash clothes as men and women were able to take clean themselves ima mobile shower.

August 2019: The Golden Nurse Health Fair: Take My Hand donated book bags as they were free to give away as well as get a health screening.

November 2019: The Give Back: Take My Hand gave a monetary donation for their thanksgiving dinner to individuals placed in a shelter.

December 2019: Take My Hand adopted two children in the foster care system providing them Christmas gifts. 

Let's Give Thanks Community Dinner

NOVEMBER 2019

First Annual Let’s Give Thanks Community Dinner. This event was designed to provide a meal to those individuals at risk for hunger due to underemployment, stagnant wages, rising costs of living, poverty, and homelessness. Free clothing was given and resources available.

Sow Your Seed: Breaking the cycle of depression and anxiety

September 2019

Take My Hand created a positive environment to talk about depression and anxiety. There were spoken words from licensed therapists, musical selections, Poetry, affirmations and individuals learned the art of meditation. We hoped each individual walked out with new knowledge and resources to manage their symptoms or help someone so they can apply it to their day to day life to prevent mental health stigma.

The Easter Festival

APRIL 2019

Take my Hand partnered with Schaelin to give back to the children by creating fun with education about the importance of resurrection for a FREE Easter Event. Games, Easter Basket Giveaway, Face painting, Balloon Twisting, Easter Egg Hunt, Live Easter Bunny.Transportation was provided for the Women’s and Children shelter. 

2nd Annual Self Appreciation Awareness

MARCH 2019

This event was dedicated to promote self-care, self-love, self -esteem and appreciation for individuals going through depression, anxiety, cancer, domestic violence. Our goal was for them to walk out feeling worthy, confident. We provided each individual with make up, hair style and a gift bag.

February 2019 

Take My Hand partnered with Urban Unity and took a group of children to the Charles Wright Museum. Teaching the children although some communities are quite diverse, it is our common heritage that continues to hold us together and united we are ONE.

Blessed the Babies

JANUARY 2019

This event was dedicated for moms in need. The Gift of Baby-Care in the New Year. We collected donations of diapers, bibs, wipes, baby bottles . There was a raffle for diaper cake. Proceeds went to the maternal infant health program provided by The Motor City Center of Hope.
